This egg white frittata is a good way to get a high protein meal to fuel up for breakfast. Topped with crumbled turkey bacon, shredded cheeses, and fresh veggies for added nutrients.
This frittata breakfast is low in sodium, gluten free, and low in carbs. Making the frittata takes about 15 minutes. It’ll keep you full til lunch and energized through your work out.
I made this thin cause I want the crispy texture as oppose to a thicker quiche-like type.
I would make this for breakfast before we would worked out in our home gym. We try to keep fit and workout mid-morning after breakfast.
Once it’s lunch time, you’ll want to make my Creamy Shrimp Salad or if you’re feening for a Guacamole Cheese Burger with fries and make it a cheat day.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS EGG WHITE FRITTATA
- The egg whites are low in calories, low in carbs, and low in sodium! Actually, you’ll get the sodium from the cheese and low sodium turkey bacon.
- Because there’s bacon crumbles. Everyone loves bacon for breakfast. I used Turkey bacon cause that’s what we like!
- Full of nutrients using fresh veggies of your choice. I used grape tomotoes and green onions.
- It’s quick and easy to make. You can prepare this ahead of time as one of your meal preps.
THE EGG WHITE FRITTATA BREAKDOWN
- LIQUID EGG WHITES – I used the store bought kind in a carton or use about 12 eggs and separate the yolks.
- LOW SODIUM TURKEY BACON – cooked and crumbled
- SHREDDED CHEESES – get your healthy fats in. I used the mexican blend cheeses.
- GRAPE TOMATOES – I’m not a fan of tomatoes but get these little ballers in for vitamins.
- GREEN ONIONS – cause it’s pretty to add more greens
- THE POWS – that’s the onion and garlic powders, black pepper, and cayenne for a touch of heat.
- EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
HOW TO MAKE THE FRITTATA FOR BREAKFAST
STEP 1
Using a 10 inch frying pan, add the oil over medium heat.
STEP 2
Pour the liquid egg whites into the pan. Sprinkle the onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne and black peppers. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the edges get crispy.
STEP 3
While the eggs are cooking, microwave the turkey bacon on a microwave safe dish. Place paper towels on the bottom and top to cover the bacon. Microwave for 3 minutes or until crispy. Let the bacon cool then crumble to pieces.
STEP 4
Add the remaining ingredients – the bacon crumbles, tomatoes and shredded cheeses. Once cheese has melted to your desired consistency, turn off the heat and remove from the pan.
STEP 5
Top with fresh green onions. Enjoy and devour!
STORAGE
FREEZE
Freeze frittata in an airtight freezer-safe storage container for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
REHEAT
Warm the left overs in a microwave safe plate and enjoy. It won’t be as crispy as it was when it was freshly made.
DIET TRENDSETTERS SUBSTITUTIONS
KEEPT IT VEGETARIAN – Substitute the turkey crumbles for more veggies like mushrooms, spinach, kale or chopped red and green bell peppers!
ADD MILK OR COTTAGE CHEESE – If you need more dairy jk! These will create a more fluffy texture and added cheesy flavor. Pluse more protein from the cottage cheese.
NEED MORE PROTEIN? – Add my Longanisa Patties that’s made with ground turkey and crumble them up. It’s sweet tasting and you’ll love the taste. I’m for real Tootz!
