Let’s elevate our cholesterol levels for a late night munchie attack! I posted this on my Instastory and got a lot of direct messages requests for this recipe. Unfortunately, I didnt take any good pics as this savory and cheesy quesadillas was just a one time last minute deal. My bad Tootz!
Sometimes, I just randomly create food at the moment with out thinking that yall may want the recipe. I’m sure I’ll update this recipe with better pics later!
THE BREAKDOWN
- Flour Tortillas
- Lean Ground Turkey
- The OG’s (Onion and Garlic)
- Hot Sauce
- 3 Types of Cheeses
HOW TO MAKE THIS CHEESY QUESADILLA STACKERS
Grab 2 of your favorite ghetto pans! You’ll need to cook the turkey meat first. I usually grab lean ground turkey when I go to the grocery store. You’ll need to season the turkey heavily cause lean ground turkey tends to be bland cause there isn’t much fat to flavor it. Heat your frying pan with oil over medium high heat. Drop in your lean ground turkey. Cook the turkey thoroughly until its not pink. It’ll take about 7-10 minutes.
Throw them OG’s (onion and garlic) in and saute until fragrant. Next, sprinkle your seasonings. I used my favorite ones – garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chile powder, and 2 hot sauce packets (Del Taco LOL). If you don’t have hot sauce packets, use Cholula cause she’s the bomb! I don’t recommend the Tabasco cause that’s whack in this recipe. Now, continue to cook and simmer everything for about 5 minutes. Turn your stove off and set the turkey mixture aside.
NOW, LET’S STACK THESE QUESADILLAS UP
Grab the other ghetto pan you have. I used the flat pan. To save time, butter up all the flour tortillas. Yes, both sides of the flour so it can tastes better. Then fry each of the sides until you see some golden spots. Continue with the other flour tortillas. Set aside for a quick minute.
The tricky part is balancing all the ingredients together. Luckily, we are using slices of cheese to bind and glue these on top of each other. You first layer is a flour tortilla. Add 2 slices of cheese. Now add the turkey mixture all over. Add 2 more slices of cheese. Then add the second layer of tortilla and add 2 slices (or more). Skip adding the turkey mixture on this layer cause we want the middle cheesy, right? Now, add a layer of tortilla and add 2 slices of cheese and the rest of the turkey mixture, top off with 2 more slices of cheese. Top with the last flour.
Time to melt everything together. You know, that balancing act that I mentioned before. I covered the cheesy quesadillas with another pan to melt the cheeses. You can also put it in the over and broil for a few minutes to melt the cheeses. You can also microwave the quesadillas but I think it will wilt the flour tortillas. But if you prefer a moist cheesy quesadilla stackers, have it your way!
I topped these quesadilla stackers with another slice of cheese and sprinkled dried parsley and red pepper flakes for looks.
PAIR THESE CHEESY QUESADILLA STACKERS WITH..
These quesadillas would get along with it’s side kick – Jalapeno Avocado Aioli! It’s a good dipper if you want a kick of some jalapeno flavor.
You can add more carbs to your late night cravings with my Roasted Red Potatoe Wedges! I love eating them cause they’re so delish right out of the oven!
And what better way to pair quesadillas with are some chicken wings! I have 2 versions that you’ll jock – Banana Ketchup Glazed Chicken Wings for a little Filipino Fusion Flavor or my Kickin Chicken Drumettes. You’ll get a drumline going with those!
