    THE BREAKDOWN

You’ll need just a handful of simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. From a box of red velvet cake mix to chocolate chips, these ingredients come together to create a perfectly fudgy and flavorful dessert.

Ingredients to create red velvet cake mix brownies.
    • RED VELVET CAKE MIX – Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines
    • UNSALTED BUTTER
    • EGGS
    • SUGAR
    • VANILLA EXTRACT
    • MILK OR DARK CHOCOLATE CHIPS – I used sugar free cause that’s what I had.
    • RED SUGAR SPRINKLES – Optional, but I added them on here.

HOW TO MAKE RED VELVET BROWNIES

Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, stir together the cake mix, melted butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Cake mix with eggs and melted butter.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in 1 cup of sugar-free chocolate chips. Save the rest for topping.

Spread the Batter: Pour the batter into your prepared pan. Spread it evenly and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.

Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes. Check with a toothpick—it should come out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Slice: Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into squares. Serve and enjoy!

    PRO TIPS

    • Don’t Overbake: Take the brownies out when the toothpick still has a few moist crumbs to keep them fudgy.
    • Add Toppings: Try drizzling melted white chocolate or adding crushed candy canes for a holiday twist.
    • Storage: Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.

    SUBSTITUTIONS

Butter: Swap the unsalted butter for coconut oil or vegetable oil for a slightly different texture and flavor.

Eggs: Replace the eggs with a flaxseed egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal + 3 tablespoons water per egg) for a vegan-friendly option.

Granulated Sugar: Substitute with coconut sugar, brown sugar, or a sugar substitute like monk fruit or erythritol for a lower glycemic option.

Vanilla Extract: Try almond extract for a nutty flavor or peppermint extract for a holiday twist.

    TWEAK THESE RED VELVET BROWNIES

Cream Cheese Swirl: Add a cream cheese layer for extra richness! Mix 4 ounces of softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 egg yolk. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture onto the brownie batter and swirl with a knife before baking.

White Chocolate Drizzle: After the brownies cool, melt ¼ cup of white chocolate chips and drizzle over the top for an elegant finish that complements the red velvet flavor.

Peppermint Crunch: For a holiday spin, add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to the batter and sprinkle crushed candy canes on top before baking.

    HOT TO STORE BROWNIES

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
