- Healthy and Nutritious: This pizza is a healthy alternative to the other pizzas. It’s packed with protein from the tofu and bold in flavor from the turmeric and curry powder.
THE BREAKDOWN
- EXTRA FIRM TOFU – I like using organic tofu but you can use any tofu. Just drain the liquid.
- YELLOW CURRY POWDER – The curry powder flavors are so bomb but any curry powder will do.
- TURMERIC – Adds the yellow color and has awesome healthy benefits.
- ONION AND GARLIC POWDERS – You know I love including my OG’s.
- CORNSTARCH – This makes the tofu crunchy!
- COOKING SPRAY – Just to cook the tofu.
- DAIYA CHEESE PIZZA – Or use any premade pizza from the freezer section.
HOW TO MAKE TOFU CURRY PIZZA
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the Daiya Cheese pizza box.
Prepare Tofu:
- Drain and cube ½ cup of organic extra firm tofu.
- In a bowl, combine the cubed tofu with ¼ tsp yellow curry powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, ¼ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp garlic powder, and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Mix well to coat the tofu evenly.
Cook The Tofu:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
- Add the seasoned tofu cubes to the skillet and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Assemble The Pizza:
- Take the Daiya Cheese pizza out of the box and place it on a baking sheet.
- Evenly distribute the cooked tofu cubes over the top of the pizza.
- Sprinkle more curry powder. It’s optional but I like having more flavor.
Bake:
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven according to the instructions on the Daiya Cheese pizza box, usually around 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy.
Serve:
- Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious dairy-free Tofu Curry Pizza!
WHAT TO SERVE TOFU CURRY PIZZA WITH:
SUBSTITUTIONS AND VARIATIONS
- Chickpeas: Substitute tofu with roasted chickpeas for a different texture and additional fiber.
- Tempeh: Use tempeh cubes seasoned for a nutty flavor and firm texture.
- Plant-Based Meat: Use crumbled plant-based meat alternatives, such as Beyond Meat or Gardein, seasoned with curry spices.
- Cauliflower Crust: For a lower-carb option, use a pre-made cauliflower pizza crust.
- Vegetable Additions: Add some mushrooms, bell peppers, and spinachs. The choice is yours.
HOW TO STORE AND REHEAT THE PIZZA
Storage: Place leftover slices in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
Reheating Tofu Curry Pizza:
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pizza slices on a baking sheet and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through and the crust is crispy.
- Toaster Oven: Preheat the toaster oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pizza slices directly on the rack or on a baking sheet. Heat for 8-12 minutes, or until hot and crispy.
- Stovetop: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the pizza slice in the skillet and cover with a lid. Heat for 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy. For an extra crispy crust, avoid covering the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Microwave: Place a pizza slice on a microwave-safe plate and cover with a microwave-safe lid or another plate. Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, or until the pizza is heated through. But this method may result in a softer crust.
Tips for Best Results:
- Avoid Sogginess: For a crispier crust, reheat in the oven, toaster oven, or skillet rather than the microwave.
- Even Heating: Ensure even heating by not overcrowding the reheating method.
- Monitor Carefully: Keep an eye on the pizza while reheating to prevent overcooking or burning.
