If you’re looking for a quick snack, a fun appetizer, or an easy crowd-pleaser, these egg rolls hit all the right notes without the heavy oil from deep frying.

    This is totally different than my Filipino Vegetarian Lumpias. The other was influenced by my Filipino culture. This recipe takes on a more general vegetarian version.

    • PLANT-BASED BURGER PATTIES – But you can use meatless crumbles too.

    • CHOPPED GRILLED ONIONS
    • GARLIC CLOVES
    • GREEN ONIONS
    • EGG ROLL WRAPPERS
    • OIL SPRAY

    HOW TO MAKE CRISPY VEGGIE CREAM EGG ROLLS

    Step 1: Make the Filling

    In a bowl, mix together crumbled plant-based patties, garden vegetable cream cheese, grilled onions, minced garlic, and chopped green onions.

    Step 2: Assemble the Egg Rolls

    • Lay down a sheet of parchment paper.
    • Place an egg roll wrapper on the parchment, add 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center.
    • Fold the sides in, roll tightly, and seal the edges with a little water.

    Step 3: Prepare the Air Fryer

    • Mist a new sheet of parchment paper with oil and place it in the air fryer basket.
    • Arrange the egg rolls seam side down with space in between.
    • Lightly mist the tops of the egg rolls with oil.

    Step 4: Air Fry

    • Air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes.
    • Flip the egg rolls over, mist again, and air fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy.

    Step 5: Serve

    Let them cool slightly and serve with Filipino Garlic Vinegar sauce for dipping.

    VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

    • Protein swap: Use ground turkey, chicken, or beef instead
    • Different cream cheese: Use plain cream cheese mixed with salsa or your favorite chopped veggies
    • Add more veggies: Mushrooms, carrots, or cabbage brings great crunch
    • Add heat: Mix in diced jalapeños, sriracha, or crushed red pepper 

    STORAGE & REHEATING

    Storage: Let the egg rolls cool completely and store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

    Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes until crispy again. Avoid microwaving to keep that crunch!

    Can I bake them instead of air frying?

    Yes! Bake at 400°F on a lined baking sheet for about 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through.

    What dipping sauces go well?

    My Filipino Garlic Vinegar is fire but you can also try sweet chili sauce, spicy mayo, or soy-vinegar dip!

    Can I prep them ahead of time?

    Absolutely! Assemble and refrigerate them for a few hours. Air fry fresh before serving.

    • 1 stalk fresh green onions, chopped

    • Oil for air frying
